I’ve ditched Evernote since 2015.
I hate the interface.
The app is terribly slow.
But I still recommend my clients who are getting bogged down with all note-taking apps to use… Evernote!
And today, I’m going to tell you why.

Evernote benefits from the Lindy effect

Evernote launched into open beta on June 24, 2008.
This means Evernote has been in the note-taking game for 15 years.
What does that tells us? The strongness of the company.
And when it comes to taking notes, you certainly want to rely on a company that has a proven track record.
Your notes are valuable. Put them into the right hands.
This is what’s called the Lindy effect. For non-perishable things like software, the more something has been proven to stay, the more likely it will last.

Evernote ain’t free

Believe it or not: paying for software is a good thing.
Here’s why:Operating systems get updated all the time. And if you want an app or software to work with the latest updates, you’ll better rely on a developer who will take updates seriously.
Put yourself in the shoes of a developer who gets a one time-fee and has to still work on updating his app 10 years later… Unless he’s able to manage to get a constant new flow of customers, the dev’s steam will run out quickly.
Not with Evernote.
Their intelligent recurring pricing model ensures that the company gets enough money in the bank to keep updating its app.

Clip it from anywhere to… anywhere!

When taking notes, the last thing you want to do is waste time capturing them.
Evernote does a great job at that. You can clip and pull information from almost everywhere. Plus, their Zapier integration allows automation nerds to truly pull data from anywhere into Evernote.

Another bonus: If you use an Android phone with a Mac computer… Or an iPhone with a Windows computer… Evernote works across all major platforms. For people like me who are working on the Apple ecosystem, it’s not a big deal, but I know for others, it can be.

This is why, in my honest opinion 3 strong reasons why Evernote will still play a major role in note-taking apps in the next years.

But no matter what app you plan to use, taking notes is a skill.
Dumping stuff into your note-taking apps is easy… Re-engaging with them ain’t.
