Taking meaningful notes is a superpower.

It allows you to think better, remember things you’ve learned, and create better content faster.

However, most people take notes the wrong way.

After 10 years of taking notes the wrong way, let me share 3 reasons that prevent you from turning your notes into a useful personal knowledge base.

Plan for success, not for failure

If you want to be efficient, you need a process.

Truth is, everything we repeatedly do in life has a process. Want an example? Brushing your teeth. Believe it or not, this mundane task follows a process. Brushing your teeth comes after having a meal. And you don’t put the brush in your mouth before applying the toothpaste.

Same goes for your notes.

If you think that you can take notes randomly without thinking about a streamlined process, then it’s like trying to brush your teeth before having a meal.

Always keep in mind: having a process backward is still having a process.
